A Little Bit of Memorabilia from Ed Signoretti the Creator of Value Sports Pick :
I was born and brought up in the famous Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn (I will not tell you what it was famous for) and I remember the time I was invited by a friend of mine Frankie Solimena, who was originally an exercise boy and later became a jockey; to accompany him to Lexington, Kentucky and meet his friend HA Jimmy Jones who shared in the training of a horse named Citation of Calumet Farms with his dad, Ben A. Jones. This was in 1947.
Citation was going to run for the Triple Crown, which is the epitome of horse racing. He was, as far as Jimmy and his dad were concerned, going to run away with it.
Consequently, I had the pleasure and distinction of watching this miraculous horse win the Kentucky Derby, and meeting the famous Eddie Arcaro who rode Citation. I was so amazed that I went with Frankie to meet Jimmie and watch Citation win the second jewel of the Triple Crown, the Preakness, ran at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore; which he won, wire to wire.
The final leg of the coveted Triple Crown was the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park, in my home area. We watched this most memorable race and Citation blew away all contestants and tied Count Fleet’s stakes record of 2:28 1/5.
In my estimation (and I have seen many) Citation was the best thoroughbred who ever graced the turf. He won 16 straight races. One of his distinctions was that he ran a race where not a horse in the nation dared to challenge him; this was the winner-take-all Pimlico Special, Citation was left to win in what is called a walkover. Despite the lack of competition and Eddie Arcaro’s tight hold, Citation handily ran the mile and a quarter in a brilliant 1:59 4/5.
Other Famous People I Met in Sports;
I was invited by my friend Cappy Harada to a golf outing in Santa Maria, California honoring the great Joe DiMaggio; I met Joe at the outing, when he and I had breakfast together; he was one powerful human being. I also spent some time with Willy Mays and quite a few other stars of the game including many old time Yankees.
Three other great baseball stars I met through business were Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto and the great Whitey Ford. Another great guy in the sports world that I really liked and knew for a long time was boxing’s famous Rocky Graziano, the worlds Middleweight Champion. The movie “Somebody up there likes me” was all about his life; played by Paul Newman and Pier Angeli, she was; my boyhood school mate and friend, singer and movie star, Vic Damone’s, first wife.
Finally, I had the great pleasure of knowing the sharp highly intelligent respected handicapper Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal who showed me things I never thought could be possible about the handicapping of sports events. The movie “Casino” was all about him; played by Robt. De Niro.
I Spent lots of time in Vegas and had lines at the Frontier, Sands and Stardust… Lots of years, lots of visits, lots of learning, lots of money played and lots of money made…
Although Las Vegas, Nevada was the forerunner; Atlantic City was monumental in the final development of my phenomenal Craps System that I had struggled with for many years. My Blackjack System is fantastic but it’s basic until money management (the forerunner of MMS) enters the picture. Both of these systems are positive net winners; tried and proven over the years.
Finally, Sports being a big part of my different businesses, I put together an amazing manner in which to handicap and navigate through MLB, NFL, & NBA. The most helpful recoup system the MMS “Money Management System” that works like a charm bringing our winnings almost to the 100% mark. Yes, this is a family venture and our new entity is the Value Sports Pick that we will share with the public, our secrets to making money in sports gambling.
And so, here is another day, another play, and another winner.
